a house fly mildly attentive
in winged black spandex
lands on the bookcase
above my desk, preening
cleaning the red compound
mirrors of its eyes
she leans toward
my computer screen
reading this poem about her
wondering what metaphors
a random curious fly
might possibly contain.

He and his wife live on a small farm in Yamhill, OR, USA where they raise a menagerie of animals including two whippets, two manx barn cats (who don’t care for the whippets), an emu named To & Fro, and a pair of alpacas named Machu & Picchu.
