Time on My Hands by Kat Mortensen

In solitude, I sit
Looking at my hands.
Palms, scarred skating ponds
Carved with creases;
Timelines, criss-cross;
Lifelines, cut;
Lovelines ... persist,
Like the laughlines on my face;
Fingerprints, indistinct
At fingertips—
My identity fades
With age.

  4. Congratulations, Kat. Lovely. You've managed to infuse a few short lines with deep mental and emotional images. I loved it.

    Are we glad our identity fades with age? Not sure...
